- The most effective way to avoid spam is to keep
your email address to yourself. Spammers can't get
your address if you don't make it public. Only give
your address to friends, family and co-workers, and
ask them not to circulate it.
- Whenever you fill out Web registration forms, surveys
and so on, avoid typing in your email address. If
you are required to do so, look for a box that asks
you if it is okay to send similar offers or information
to you. Make sure you say no. Alternately, leave the
email field of online forms blank, or if an email
addressed is required use a decoy.
- We recommend that you do not reply to "Remove
me from this list" addresses, as this only confirms
that your e-mail address is active and directs more
unwanted e-mail to your account. Also be wary of clicking
on URLS embedded in unsolicited messages, as this
may reveal your address to that Web site.
- Do not respond to spam. Sending Spammers e-mail
requesting that they cease spamming you will probably
just incite them to send you even more Spam messages.
