Frequently Asked Questions

It's extremely important to have a web site for your business but maybe you don't know where to start. As a consumer, you should at least know what questions to ask a potential web designer regarding the services they will provide. Let me try to answer common questions and assist you with knowing what to look for.

How would I benefit from having a website of my own?
Your local advertisement immediately becomes worldwide and can be viewed all day, every day 24/7. A web site can also increase the visibility and accessibility and improve the image of your business or organization to potential and existing clients. People can get the information that you have available to them much more easily and conveniently on the Internet.

How do I choose a web designer?

The best way to familiarize yourself with a web designer is spend some time at their own web site. Do their links work throughout their own site? Are their images clear and is their idea original? Can you view their client list or portfolio? These are questions to ask yourself while you browse their site and do your own research. If you don't like what you see, the web designer probably won't be able to do much better for you.

What is a fair price for web design?
The average web designer charges $100 - $250 per page on a web site or at an hourly price (some large companies with overhead can charge over $1000 per page!). To determine your total cost, create an outline of what pages you will want on your site and then multiply that total by the designer's page fee and other service fees that might be involved. It's always best to go with a designer or company that offers a per page price instead of hourly.

I specialize in web sites for businesses with a smaller budget. My prices are competitive and I offer different plans to fit your budget.

What is included in the price?
This is where shopping for web designers can get tricky. Make sure you ask what the quoted price covers. It should include the page layout, image and manipulation, and transfer of your pages to your web host server. Start to finish! Beware of designers that have limits on the amount of images or text that will be inserted on each page or even charge you for changes during the design process.

I work with you until you are completely satisfied! If you do not like what I design, I keep on going back to the "drawing board". There will only be a small change fee applied if you want changes after the layout has been approved.

How long does it take for a website to be designed?
It takes about 2-3 weeks for a website to be designed - from start to finish. The more complex a website is, like having a database integrated site or an e-commerce store, the longer it will take. If you have a deadline, please make sure you have all of your content and any images ready.

What input/information do you need from me to design a web site?
The more of your input that I have as to your desired design, purpose, and function of your website, the better. Information which I will ask of you may include the purpose of your website (business or personal), what you want your website to do for you, the subject matter, your target audience, a sample table of contents, as well as any preference you have as to things like color scheme and layout. I will also ask you for any pictures (digital or you can mail them for us to scan), graphics (such as logos), or other media which you would like included in your web site.

Do I need to provide content for my web site?
Yes, I will need all of the content that you plan to put on your web site after the first approval of the mock-up. If you would like any specific graphics included in the design, I will need it before the mock-up design. The sooner you send me the content, the faster I will be able to have your website up and running. If you need to have your content created, O offer content writing at an extra cost.

I already have a web site, can Sun Designs maintain my website or redesign it?
Yes, I have several maintenance plans to work around your budget. I can take your existing web site and redesign, revamp, or simply edit or update it.
